After the Rain
Early in my practice of the internal arts I was not aware of exactly how the different climates interacted with your body. I could feel the rain coming and pain at the sites of injuries in my body but that was just scratching the surface. When I deepened my study of Chinese medicine and Qigong, I realized that some of my practices were counterproductive despite my discipline of working out outdoors 4:30am-7:30am everyday come what may.
There are many factors like the seasons, the weather, your location, your constitution and any energetic imbalances you may have.
Today I would like to focus on the negative ions in the air.
“Researchers looked at 100 years of studies and found evidence that negative ions could:
- help regulate sleep patterns and mood.
- reduce stress.
- boost immune system function.
- increase metabolism of carbs and fats.
- kill or inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, viruses, and mold species…” -Google search
Negative ions are plentiful in forests, over the water, at beaches, mountains…
I found some places In Hawaii to have been particularly well-charged. But let’s say your stuck
In the city and can’t make it to a beach. After a rain storm the air is filled with more negative ions. Together with the sun one usually can feel refreshed breathing in the air.
Bringing in this qi into your bloodstream via the lungs can really boost your energy and mood and provide the benefits mentioned above.
I use air purifiers for my indoor space that use negative ions and ozone in the same way nature does it outside after the rain.
Next time after a rain storm, go out and do some qigong. Get the extra boost and feel the difference right away.
May the qi be with you.
Peace.
